Lesson
Your brand helps people recognize your business. You do not need an expensive logo to start.

The idea
Brand clarity and consistency. This lesson applies the same principle to three distinct stages of business.
Why it matters: Illustrative example: a bakery uses three different names on its sign, social media and maps. Customers may not know these are the same business.
Guided diagnosis: a brand is not merely its logo. It includes the promise customers understand and the experience they receive. Compare vague copy like «quality services» with «residential carpet cleaning by appointment in San José». The second tells people what, for whom, and where. Do not claim advantages you cannot demonstrate.
Decision exercise: describe your offer in fewer than twenty words. Ask three people independently what they understand and record their actual answers. If everyone imagines something different, clarify the message before buying ad impressions. Established owners should also audit signs, invoices and social profiles.
Practical steps: 1. IDEA: describe who you serve and what you offer before paying for a logo; ask three potential customers whether they understand it. 2. STARTING: create one master record of your name, contact information, hours, images and truthful promise; check it on mobile. 3. ESTABLISHED: audit receipts, storefront, profiles and website for inconsistent naming and promises. 4. PRACTICE — Ask someone to view your profile for five seconds, then describe your offer and how to contact you. Refine anything unclear. 5. REFLECT — What decision would you change today, and what real information do you still need before spending money?
